THE ART OF RETHINKING

Aesthetic philosophy for Undergraduates initiated by Centre for Ecological Economics and Ethic in Bodø, Norway.  They invited me to contribute to their ground breaking pilot program, renewing the traditional obligatory philosophy module for Under Graduates at the University. The program is essentially about understanding the relationship between philosophy, art and science.

HIDDEN ECONOMIES (a way out?)

Hidden Economies: A seminar on economic possibility raises a discussion about hidden economies–existing within, next to, beside, and around capitalism. The seminar is inspired by the work of feminist, economic geographers JK Gibson-Graham (Julie Graham and Katherine Gibson), who worked on several publications and projects that sought to destabilise the “monster” of a capitalist economy. 
Capitalist processes shape our daily experiences but do they define them? How and where are people creating economies that ignore the dominant economic system? How do these economies–shared, exchange based, micro-local, etc.–function and what do they look like? Are they temporary or are they sustainable?
Hidden Economies consists of presentations and workshops from artists, activists, and scholars focused on issues of economy within their work. The seminar focuses on how cultural work may contribute to shedding light on economic difference and articulating new economic realities. Central for this project is the idea that economies are always diverse and in the making.

BREAD AS LIFE

My bread book for Breadhouses Networks in Bulgaria, now hanging at the refurbished bakery in Plovdiv.

BREAD AS SOCIAL SCULPTURE

Bread Houses Networks in Bulgaria is a very interesting organisation that connects people and cultures through bread. Bread used to be a very important part of Bulgarian culture but has slowly died and given way for white, commercial bread baked in one of four national bakeries. Bread Houses Networks wants ro reclaim not only the bread traditions with all its rituals and nutritious, delicious bread but also the sharing and aesthetics of bread making. I was invited there to do a workshop in Plovdiv and also made a bread book that is now installed in the newly refurbished bakery.

ORGANIC FOOD PRODUCERS PRICE

I was asked to create the certificate that will be handed out together with the price for the Ecological Producer's Award in North Norway. This years price was awarded to Torill Kåven.

BAR RESIDENCY KIRKENES

Another research trip to Finnmark to collect more stories about Rømmekolle, the fermented milk culture unique to Norway originally cultured from leaves of Butterworth. Met some wonderful people  sharing their Rømmekolle stories and serving home made Rømmekolle made with milk from Ivar Øverli at the summer fair at Svanhovd. Thank you Pikene på Broen for yet another well organised and interesting journey.
